How we build Mamentis

Mamentis began as a tool we built for ourselves: one place where AI could take real work off our hands, whatever that work was. Building it taught us something we did not expect. The way we make software changed as much as the software did.

Today Mamentis is developed by an autonomous factory. AI agents plan the work, write the code, test it and review it. People set the direction and make the decisions. This post explains what that looks like day to day, and why it matters to the teams who use Mamentis.

Why a factory

Since 2024 we have built with almost every AI coding tool there is. Each one made a single developer faster. None of them, on its own, made a product move faster. Someone still had to break the work down, keep the decisions straight, check every change and remember why things are the way they are.

So we built the part around the model. The factory takes a goal, turns it into a plan, carries it out step by step and keeps a written record of every decision along the way. The model writes the code. The factory makes sure the work adds up to a product.

What a day looks like

A typical day starts with a short list of goals: a feature to finish, a bug to fix, a security sprint to run. From there:

• Plan. Agents break each goal into steps small enough to check, and write down what done looks like.
• Build. Agents write the code, the tests and the documentation for each step.
• Test. Every change runs against the tests before a person ever looks at it.
• Review. Each change is reviewed against our rules for design, security and naming, and goes back when it falls short.
• Decide. When a choice matters, such as a product question, a trade-off or anything a customer would notice, the factory stops and asks a person.

People spend their time on decisions, not on typing.

What people still do

The factory does not decide what Mamentis should be. People do. We choose what to build next, what to leave out and when something is good enough to ship. We read the changes that matter. We own the result.

Some work is never skipped, however busy the week. Security sprints run on schedule. Every release carries a version number and a changelog written as the work happens, so it is always clear what changed and why.

Every decision, written down

Every plan, decision and working session is kept. That record is how a new piece of work picks up where the last one stopped, how we can answer "why is it like this?" months later, and how the factory gets better at our standards over time. It is one of the most valuable things we own.

Why this matters if you use Mamentis

The factory is not a side project. It is the clearest proof of what Mamentis is for.

• Fast, without cutting corners. Tests, reviews and security work are built into the process rather than squeezed in at the end.

A factory that gets better every day

The factory improves itself as it works. Every decision, review and fix feeds back into how the next piece of work is planned and checked, so each week it builds Mamentis a little better and a little faster than the week before. The pace keeps rising.

It is not a closed world. We work with many AI tools and models alongside it, and not all of our work runs inside the factory yet: some of it happens elsewhere, and more moves inside as the factory learns. We believe in collaboration and in the strength of different approaches. Mamentis does not ask anyone to give up the tools they like; it offers its own take on the experience of working with AI: one interface, one way of working, any model.

Building our own factory changed how we see the whole market. We believe every organisation will run an AI factory of its own, one that produces work, not just tokens. Mamentis is where they build it: in their own environment, secure and isolated, or on Mamentis cloud.
